Trip to Madrid, Bilbao and Burgos!

Some weeks ago we went on a trip to Madrid, Bilbao and Burgos. I  was thrilled for going there and the truth that we passed it very well. But the journey with bus was made very long, luck that for the way we playing the guitar, singer watching a film.. and it passed to fast!

The first day we went to Madrid,I think that we were there 2 days. Really is a beautiful city but is very stressful because there are many people. I liked me a lot "el parque del retiro" is the most popular park in Madrid and is a good place to relax.I remember, at night our going out, and we went to a bar but almost everything was closed and luckily we found on,e but that it was a lot expensive..Also,we saw cathedrals, the "cibeles"..It is a nice capital to go to visit but for me,not to live there.

Well, the 3rst day we went to Bilbao. think that is a lovely city.loved it!and I liked me more than Madrid, really I do not know ,maybe because the landscape is more beautiful than Madrid. And for me,it was the best hotel that we went.

The 4rt day, we went to Burgos.I remember our arriving and the first that we made was to go to make a visit, we entered in to shops, we also went to a park..
But really the night was the best, we went out and went to a discotheque all joints. But the problem was the following day, because everybody was very tired to go to Atapuerca..

But was a very interesting journey and I passed it very well! :D

Are our zoos cruel to wild animals?

In y opinion, animals don't like being locked up in a cage all day for human's entertainment..

I believe we have abused of our powers over animals and it is time we make some changes.

I can't stand when animals the zoos end up to he circus.

I think that in each country there can be many zoos, and I do not believe that all animals receive suitable conditions. I do not want to think that all zoos are bad, but for example, if you are in your natural habitat and take you in a closed place where you can not make a normal life, and the voices the many strange people who look at you. I suppose that it would be very stressful, and suffocated with silence ans space.

In conclusion, animals are meant to be in their natural habitat.

an Austen chronology

Jane austen was born at the village of Steventan, England, to George and Cassandra Austen, in 1775.10 years later with her sister Cassandra, Austen attended the Abbey School in reading, England. Then she wrote her juvenilia.

During 1795-98, she wrote original versions of Nothanger Abbey, sense and sensibility, and Pride and Prejudice. In 1797 "first impressions"(original version of pride and perjudice) was rejected by a London Pulisher.

Later, her father retired and moved to bath with his wife and daughters.

Then susan(original version of Northanger Abbey) was bought by a publisher but never issued. In Austen began, but quickly abandoned "the watson"

1 year later her father died. Then she moved to southampton with her mother and sister.

For years she lived with her wealthy brother Edward in the village of Chawton, in shouthem England. She began reising original versions of sense and sensiility and pride and Perjudice. After that"sense and sensibility" was published. Jone Austen Pride and prejudice was published. After Monsfied Park was published, Austen began working on Emma.

In 1816, Emma was published and she dedicated it to the prince regent(future george IV) at his request. Austen completed persuasion.

Then she composed the fragment "sandition"; she abandoned ill, because of incapaciting illnes. Austen was moved to Winchester for medical care n May and died there on 10 July. She was buried in Winchester cathedral on 24 july. In 1818 Northanger Abbey and persuasion were published jointly in a four- volume edition.

two lives

1.Look at the front cover and observe it. How do you relate the title to the picture?

Speaks about 2 lives of different persons who are joined by the love, and in the drawing they go out.

2.Most of the story takes place in Tredonald, Wales. Find information about this coal mining village.
With the Industrial Revolution ( 17th and 18th c ) , coal mining, a tiny industry in the 15th century, became a national and international industry. Thus, the 19th century was a century of massive expansion for the coal industry in Wales. But the end of the 20th century brought almost universe closure. Find information about 1984 miners' strike.

3.Chapter 1: Two young lives

-" Life was not easy for the Thomas family." Why ? ( 3 lines )

He and their brother have to gather the money. Their father is unemployed and drunk, and their mother died when he was born. They also had a brother, but he died in the war.

-Richard Thomas had been killed while fighting in North Africa in 1943. Which war was it ?

it is about the second world war.

- In chapter 1 we know that Megan and Huw are good friends. Describe the moment

this fragment is from the book , and says:they used to sit together at school, and out of school they spent a lot of time with each other. Noiw their friendship seemed to be getting even stronger.

4. Chapter 2 : The friendship continues

-In this chapter Megan and Huw take a decision about their relationship. Explain it. Why do they take it?

They say that they will not explain the relationship that they have to anybody.Because, their father wanted her to have a
convenient boyfriend for her and a miner of coal with a drunk father
and also poor, was not one of them.

5. Chapter 3: Romance grows

-"This Saturday was going to be a night to remember." ( page 15 ) Why?

Because they will be out of the village, where nobody will be able to suspect their relationship and will be a good moment not to have to hide their feelings.

6. Chapter 4: Death at the mine / Leaving Tredonald

-After the first four chapters, how would you define the relationship between Huw and his brother?

I think that the relationship of brothers has been a lot influenced by their father, who gets drunk and does not work, for the death of their mother, also huw goes a lot from time with megan, because also they have to work a lot. and this relationship separated them more, and finally their dead brother in the mine of coal.

7. Chapter 6: A surprise find

-Megan finds the letters Huw had sent her 50 years before, in 1946 and 1947. Imagine Meg's father was still alive and that you are Meg. What would you tell him?

I think that she would get very angry with their father, although he knew that he only wanted the best for her, and maybe megan would go to canadà to search in huw

In the first letter Meg asks Huw: " Do you think he wanted me to find them when it was to late?". What do you think?

I think that never him too much late to find again to a person

8. Chapter 7: Time to decide

-Before leaving Tredonald, Huw told Megan : "in a year ...I'll come back here and we'll get married..." ( pag.23 ); but things turned out to be completely different. Why ?

Because he sent her letters, but as their father hid them then she could not answer them. Megan thought that he had forgotten about her, and Huw thought that the one that did not want to know anything was megan month of him.

9. Chapter 8: Telling Beth

-Find some information about Cardiff ( 3 lines ) and post a picture

King Edward VII granted Cardiff city status on 28 October 1905,[18] and the city acquired a Roman Catholic Cathedral in 1916. In subsequent years an increasing number of national institutions were located in the city, including the National Museum of Wales, Welsh National War Memorial, and the University of Wales Registry Building—however, it was denied the National Library of Wales, partly because the library's founder, Sir John Williams, considered Cardiff to have "a non-Welsh population". 10. Chapter 10: Writing back

-Meg is about to get married. In spite of that, she lets Huw visit her and her daughter. Why does she act that way? Do you think she does it for Beth or for herself?

I think that she acts like this, because she points she is loved and they still have something with majority, their daughter. And I suppose that she makes it for her as well as for their daughter

1. Chapter 11 : A new star

-What's Meg's present job?

The guide in the miner, that in these moments is closed and it is only for tourists.

-Why does Huw tell her " you always were a fighter, weren't you?" ? ( pag.48 )

I don't understand this part..

-Do you think two people can still be in love after 50 years without seeing each other?

I think that with time the people forget and still more when you do not see her for so much time for a lot that you love her.But in this book she explains to us that even if they pass many years, that person has always been remembered.

12. Chapter 17 : Time to go

-Imagie the conversation between Paul and Megan the moment she tells him that she is still in love with Huw. Write it down

I imagine in very nervous megan and says that she knows for her a lot of severe, but that she has always loved in one another person and he is huw, not him..

  1. Did you like the book? Why ? What did you learn by reading it?

I think that is a very interesting book and also a beautiful love story of two persons that in the end even if they pass a lot of time withouth is joints the fate joins them, and in the drawing reflects this.
